Examining Codes of Ethics

NAEYC Codes of Ethics Ideals:
1. To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child.
2. To welcome all family members and encourage them to participate in the program.
3. To work through education, research, and advocacy toward an environmentally safe world in
which all children receive health care, food, and shelter; are nurtured; and live free from violence in
their home and their communities.

These ideals is significance to my professional life because in order to understand children, it requires recognizing the qualities, abilities, and potential that each child has along with providing them with a safe environment, health care, food, and shelter while trying to protect them from violence in their surroundings, homes, and community. I feel like the problem with children today is that the parents and the teachers are not in a mutual agreement when it comes to the behavioral of the child and it causes a conflict between them because a lot of the time the parents are believing what the kids say instead of the teacher. I am no saying that the teacher is always right, but majority of the time they are.

DEC Codes of Ethics Ideals:
1. We shall demonstrate our respect and concern for children, families, colleagues, and others with
whom we work, honoring their beliefs, values, customs, languages, and culture.
2. We shall respect families’ rights to choose or refuse early childhood special education or related
services.
3. We shall use every resource, including referral when appropriate, to ensure high quality services
are accessible and are provided to children and families.

These ideals are important to my professional life because in order to provide high quality services to children and families, then every resource should be used whether it includes a referral on the child/children if they misbehave or whatever it takes to keep your program running sucesssfully. I see
respect as being giving or earned by people which brings me to an old saying that goes something like this. "In order to get respect you must give respect". In my life, I have realized that respect goes a long ways in life because without it there is no purpose. I feel like if we are mindful of how we treat one another, then it leads to respecting people's beliefs, values, customs, languages, and culture.

        Words of Inspiration and Motivation

A quote from Abigai A. Eliot:
Of her Unitarian faith, Eliot said, "Religion has always been an important part of my life- a subconscious influence, as well as a conscious."

Here is an excerpts from Elizabeth P. Peabody View on Kindergarten. She followed the prescriptions set by the German, Fredrick Froebel, whom was the founder of the movement.
A basic assumption in Froebel's philosophy was his belief in the innate goodness of the child, who under the guidance of a trained teacher can unfold and blossom into sef-fillment.

Does Having Passion for Your Work Even Matter? by Curt Rosengren
He quoted that passion: It's an energy source, It helps you feel more confident, and It feeds your persistence.

        Pursuing Passion by John Hagel
I enjoyed reading his article because it was so much information on passion, but I will quote several of them.
        1. Passion comes from within each of us; it cannot be imposed or mandated from outside. At the same time, it compels us to move outside, to engage with the world around us.
        2. I am focused on the other kind of passion-the passion of explorers.
        3. Passion is professional
        4. Passion is about progression
        5. Passion is about connecting
        6. Passion is not predictable
        7. Passion is about risk-taking
Sorry if I went overboard with the quotes, but I was feeling where he was coming from.

        Personal Childhood Web

        My Favorite Five

        1. Patricia B.Minor(Mother)- She has influenced me as a child because she always told me that I was differnt from the other kids. She told me that I have a spiritual gift and I need to use it because I know things before it happened. Right now till this day my mother always is encouraging me to never give up and go as far as I can in my education. My mother took care of four children by herself without a man's help. She worked three and four jobs along with a sick brother to make sure that we had clothes on our back, shelter over our head, and food on the table. She made me feel special because she tried to treat all of us the same.

        2. James B. Minor(Father)- He has influeced me as a child because he told me that I was not going to be running around here getting all them babies. He said, either I was going to work or go to school. He took care of me by providing my the money so that I would go shopping for school or my own personal needs and I would get my hair washd and perm every two weeks. He is retired and still works in and out jobs in order to provide for his family.

        3. Rita Brooks(Aunt)- She has influenced me as a child because I can remember her as being the first lady police officer and her blue uniform. I remember when she was going to college to get her degree. She would tell us that aunt is almost finish. I would go to her house and see all her law books and her diploma. So when I was going to school, she will make sure that I had everything for school taken care of. For my graduation she was there with bells on because her son and I was graduating at the same time. She makes me feel special because even though now I am in college she stops by to see what I am doing with myself and to encourage me to keep on getting my education.

        4. Roderick K. Bernard(Brother)-He influenced me as child because I seen him getting babies at a young age and I was an aunt at twelve years old. He kept getting children, so I decided that I was not going to be like him with all them kids. He cared about us by protecting us from the boys, he didn't allow us to have a boyfriend. He would babysit us when our mother was at work. He made me feel special because I was the only one that he taught  how to play basketball, but he would fight with all of us. He  was so overprotected of us just like now.

        5. Jenita M. Harris(Sister)- She influenced me as a child because my sister made sure that we were feed, hair was comb, and well dressed. She use to always take us to the mall to the gameroom and anywhere else I wanted to go. She made me feel special because she use to always take up for me and didn't want me to get in trouble or a whipping. She basically did just about everything for me not saying that I ddn't know how, it was because I was the baby.

        My Personal Blog

This image is imporatnt to me because it was one of the children that I worked with when I was working at the Boys and Girls Club of the Miss-Lou. It was on Valentine Day and I was so busy trying to get the children in order to play that the little girl came to me and said Mrs.Mosby, I have something for you. I told her ok baby give it to me later on. Well it was time for her to check out and go home, then she came up to me again and said here Mrs. Mosby. So I stopped and she came me an envelope that said To.Mrs. Mosby From.Daisha S. Green with a rose. I told her thank you and he made my day, but I really didn't read it to I got home and that picture above is what it said and I just smiled and was so happy.

        My quote about children:
"Anybody can have a baby, but it takes that woman or man  to raise that child/children." This is important to me because a lot of people be having a child/children, but don't want to take care of them. They didn't ask to be brought into this world, so I feel like if you lay down and get those kids, then be woman or man enough to take care of them.

My passion for the Early Childhood Field:
I have a passion for little children from babies to about thirteen because I love to see a smile on their face because I know that those children can only do what is taught to them. If there is no guidance or learning then they will be lost. Therefore, learning starts from at home, then it leads to them learning from school.
